This January, the year began with Lumut Port announcing its support for two schools, SK St. Francis in Sitiawan and SK Seri Manjung in Manjung, with the donation of a set of smart television each to enhance their teaching and learning environments.
The smart televisions were provided upon request by the schools, reflecting Lumut Port’s tailored approach to meeting community needs. These advanced teaching tools will be installed in classrooms or libraries, where they will serve as valuable aids for online learning and interactive presentations.
SK Seri Manjung headmaster Ruzaimi bin Zamin expresses his enthusiasm: “This smart TV will be placed in the classroom or library, allowing students to benefit from online presentations and other modern learning resources.”
This initiative highlights the growing role of technology in education and the importance of equipping schools with tools that prepare students for a digital future. By integrating smart TVs into their teaching strategies, schools can create a more engaging and dynamic learning experience, which can significantly boost students’ understanding and retention of knowledge.
Lumut Port’s journey in supporting education began in 2022 with the donation of a smart TV to SK Kampung Dato Seri Kamaruddin. Since then, the company has expanded its reach, providing not just televisions but also smartboards, furniture and funding for school renovations and upgrades.
Lumut Port plans to extend its support to other schools throughout the year.
This approach underscores Lumut Port’s philosophy of responding to specific community needs.
“Schools provide us with the specications for the TVs,” explained a Lumut Port representative. “We review their requests to ensure they align with our budget. If the requested specs are not suitable, we advise the schools on alternative options.”
Although there is no xed annual budget for the smart TV programme, Lumut Port allocates approximately RM150,000 annually for education-related CSR activities. This exible yet focused approach ensures that resources are directed where they are most needed, allowing the company to respond eectively to various requests from schools in the area.
This strategy is not just about providing material support. It is also about fostering a sustainable and meaningful partnership with local schools.
Haris bin Haji Hussin, headmaster of SK St. Francis expressed gratitude for Lumut Port’s contribution: “This is the rst time we’ve received a TV set from a private sector company. Lumut Port’s support has been incredible, and we hope they continue helping our school and others in the area.”
