[February 25, 2025] Lumut Port has strengthened its operations with the acquisition of state-of-the-art machinery from Hitachi Construction Machinery (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd to improve services and increase productivity.
In a recent handover ceremony, Lumut Maritime Terminal Sdn Bhd (LMT) welcomed two Hitachi ZX200-5G Excavators and two Hitachi ZW220-5A Wheel Loaders, purchased at a total investment of RM2.32 million. These machines, known for their reliability and performance, will be used for loading and heaping bulk cargo within the terminal area, ensuring smoother and more efficient operations.
“We chose Hitachi because they meet our criteria for reliability, experience and support,” said Dato’ Mubarak Ali Gulam Rasul, CEO of Lumut Port. “This purchase is part of our ongoing efforts to control and elevate our service levels to clients.”
To ensure the safe and effective use of the new machinery, Lumut Port has arranged specialised in-house training for its drivers and operators. The training covers operational and maintenance skills, as well as safety protocols, reflecting the port’s unwavering commitment to safety and workforce development.
Lumut Port’s maintenance department, comprising nearly 100 skilled engineers, mechanics and technicians, will also play a crucial role in maintaining the new equipment. This dedicated team ensures that all machinery operates at peak performance, minimising downtime and maximising productivity.
The collaboration with Hitachi Construction Machinery (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd marks a significant step in Lumut Port’s expansion and service enhancement journey.
