Lumut Port builds new facility with enhanced capacity and productivity

Built on a strong partnership between the Perak State Government and Tenaga Nasional, Lumut Maritime Terminal (Lumut Port) is one of the best bulk-cargo handlers worldwide. Since 1995, Lumut Port has shown top expertise in handling dry, liquid and break bulk shipments, catering to importers and exporters of transshipment goods, edible cargo and LNG products for the Asian market.

“We take care of everything from cargo handling and manpower to maintenance in one integrated computerised system,” says CEO Mubarak Gulam Rasul, who initiated the organisation’s 10-year strategic business plan when he came on board in 2015. “We provide our best in terms of loading time and other port parameters as we generate business volumes for clients.”

The port’s break bulk operations cover shipments such as hydrated lime, project cargo and white cement while its dry bulk segment includes limestone, petroleum coke, palm kernel expellers, clay and aggregates. Olein, stearin, sulphuric and nitric acid and various minerals comprise cargoes handled in liquid bulk. These offerings include ship-to-ship operations and marine services, making Lumut Port the leader in bulk-cargo handling in Southeast Asia.

From stockpiling to the exporting or importing stage, Lumut Port provides a one-stop centre with its proficiency in port operations, technical framework and system maintenance. This initiative is driven by the company’s commitment to reduce client costs and maintain long-term partnerships with value obtained in compliance with ISO 9001:2015 for quality and OHSAS 18001:2007 for safety.

With hi-tech facilities, more than 250 dedicated employees and an extensive collaboration with local and regional companies, Lumut Port shares its expertise in different projects and land developments, including the Lumut Port Industrial Park and Lekir Bulk Terminal. Lumut Port 2, to be launched in 2023, will be equipped with sophisticated operation and maintenance systems and other competitive services designed to enhance capacity and productivity.
